The Communications Module allows clinicians the ability to recognize and call attention to controlled substance prescribing and dispensing history information and data, such as mitigating or exacerbating factors, on a patient’s PDMP report in the form of Care Notes. When the Communications Module is enabled, clinician-to-clinician messaging and the ability to add Care Notes to a record, are available within the Patient Report. Care Notes are accessible by clinicians only and allows for specific, clinically relevant notes or events to be appended to a Patient Report.
These notes are visible only on the Patient Report and to clinicians who have the Communications Module enabled. |
Additionally, the module allows for direct clinician-to-clinician messaging within the PDMP to allow clinicians to securely communicate and share information regarding a patient in their care. This direct messaging feature is available only when NarxCare is enabled, and is not available within the PDMPs themselves. Furthermore, the Communications Module permits the exchange of information between verified PDMP users regarding a single patient under the care of multiple clinicians.
To have the Communications Module enabled, clinicians must meet specific requirements such as having a unique personal ID (e.g., DEA number) and not sharing that ID with other clinicians (e.g., within an institutional setting). |
