The Communications Module is only available if the PDMP has it enabled.
The Care Notes feature of the Communications Module allows clinicians to add specific, clinically relevant notes or events to a patient’s PDMP record (e.g., “the patient has a pain contract”) to be viewed by any clinician who views the patient’s record. A clinician can also edit and/or delete Care Notes they added to the patient’s record.
This function should be used for messages that are not time sensitive, as there may be a delay before the recipient views any sent message. For time sensitive communications, communications should be sent directly to the desired recipient outside the PDMP. |
To add a new Care Note to a patient's record, a user must have either generated a new Patient Report or view a previously created Patient Report. For additional information on creating or viewing a Patient Report, please refer to the Performing a Patient Request (Patient Search) or Viewing Patient Reports help articles.
Click Add Note in the Care Notes section of the page.
The Care Note creation window is displayed.
Type your note in the Write a Care Note field.
If you need to attach a document to the Care Note (e.g., care plans, pain contracts, etc.), click Add Attachment and select the file you wish to attach. HTML attachments cannot be accepted for security purposes.
In the Expiration field, use the drop-down menu to select when the Care Note should expire.
Choose how the Care Note should be saved (e.g., externally vs. internally) and click Save.
Inappropriate content, in any form, should not be posted. If a user notices inappropriate use of the Communications Module, the Message or Care Note should be flagged as inappropriate. Please refer to the Flagging a Message/Care Note help article for further assistance. |
