The Communications Module is only available if the PDMP has it enabled.
Clinician-to-clinician messaging is available when clinicians are treating the same patient and have access to Patient Reports.
This function should be used for messages that are not critically time sensitive, as there may be a delay before the recipient views any sent message. For time sensitive communications, messages should be directed to the desired recipient outside of the PDMP. |
To send a new message, a user must have either generated a new Patient Report or view a previously created Patient Report. For additional information on creating or viewing a Patient Report, please refer to the Performing a Patient Request (Patient Search) or Viewing Patient Reports help articles.
When viewing the Patient Report, scroll to the Rx Graph section of the report. Available clinicians for messaging are indicated by hyperlinked names.
If the clinician's name is not hyperlinked, that clinician is not available for messages via the Communications Module. |
Click the desired clinician's name to display the Message Creation window.
If multiple demographics exist for the patient, select the most recent and accurate demographic to ensure the message is attached to the correct patient record. If multiple demographics do not exist, skip this step. Type the message in the Message field, and click Send.
The message is sent, and the clinician will be able to view it the next time they log in to PMP AWARxE.
